Is Keith Urban a Christian? That seems to be the question burning a hole in readers’ minds. Every other search engine query that brings new visitors to this site is either “keith urban christian” or “Is Keith Urban a Christian?” So for that reason, I have scoured the Internet to try to find the answer. Turns out Urban must choose to keep his religious preferences to himself. The Keith Urban Wikipedia entry makes a reference to Urban’s acknowledgment of prayer for his child: “Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today.” His website bio makes no reference to God, and neither do any of his social networking websites.

Urban does have connections to God musically: One of his number one songs is called “But for the Grace of God,” and discusses prayer and acknowledges that he’d “be lost, but for the grace of God.” The song was cowritten by Urban and was actually his first number one hit. Another song, from 2004’s Be Here and written by Urban, is titled “God’s Been Good to Me.” Urban also covered a song penned by Christian rockers Third Day called “Call My Name,” which was released as an iTunes exclusive with the purchase of Defying Gravity.

Ultimately, it seems that Urban does believe in God, as established by the aforementioned songs- but sometimes songwriters write what they think people want to hear, even if it is not what they personally believe. Which is the case with Urban, I don’t know. Furthermore, I don’t really enjoy celebrity gossip, which this article would fall under, but thought I would address the issue since so many readers are interested.
